It indeed has been a lengthy chuck of time since my last post. To make up for my bout of inactivity, here are some photos from my first ride in Baja. I traveled with my Uncle and one of his friends and also my cousin. Four KTMs: 990 Adventure, 950 Adventure, 620 Adventure, and a 530 EXC. In typical Baja fashion things didn’t go as planned. Our buddy riding the 530 blew out a turn, taking out a barbed-wire fence, and doing a number on the bike in the process. Being in severe pain we got him to the nearest hospital (the hotel at Osos Negros) which was about 15 miles away.
Our original plan was to continue to Mike’s Sky Ranch, but we weren’t about to leave a man behind with what was later to be found a fractured hip. So we spend the night there caring for our downed rider. After a very frigid night with what seemed like big napkins as blankets, we contacted a friend who would gladly come down to fetch the not-so-new looking 530 and its injured rider.
As our quartet shrank down to a trio, we rode off to Mike’s, hoping not to turn it into a duo. We had an awesome ride up to Mike’s; the last 40 minutes or so being at night. Our time at Mike’s and the ride home the next day was perfect. I can’t even really say exactly why it was so neat. You just have to go. At 60 mph, riding side-by-side down a dirt trail in Baja, all you can think is, “Wow! This is cool!”

sweet! water, snow, dirt, sand. What an adventure. Can I go next time?
Sure! Just get a KTM.
